Ni Hao incorporates math, arts & crafts, music & movement, and science to ensure learning Mandarin is fun and enriching.
After the first 2 to 4 weeks, instruction is 100% in Chinese. Teachers use body language, pictures and pointing to communicate concepts.

Mandarin Program FAQ
Q. How much Chinese will my child learn?
A. Each student progresses at their own pace, but after one year of 3-4 hrs/day and 5 days/wk exposure, most children are able to understand 90-100% of Chinese spoken in the classroom. Students speak fairly fluently after 2 years.
Q. What is the student to teacher ratio?
A. 8:1 for TK & Kinder. 12:1 for First Grade.
Q. Will there be homework?
A. While homework is not required, Ni Hao provides online learning materials should students want to practice at home for 5 to 10 mins a day.
Q. Will my child learn reading and writing?
A. Yes, Ni Hao will introduce Chinese Characters to children as a way to help them better understand the language. Ni Hao has learning materials in both Simplified and Traditional versions.
Q. How many students will be in the program?
A. We currently have space for 20 students.
Q. Should I also apply to CDC for childcare?
A. Yes. You may release your CDC spot once you have received confirmation from Ni Hao you are in the Mandarin Language Afterschool Program and are sure you will not need Before School Care. Ni Hao will not provide Before School Care at this time.
Q. Can I join if I am not a Wiseburn resident?
A. The program is only open to TK-1st Grade students of Anza, Cabrillo and Da Vinci Connect, including permit students. Anza students may receive priority registration each Spring.
