The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 include more than 1,500 universities across 93 countries and regions, which evaluation is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Among the top 100 higher education institutes in World University Rankings 2021, US, with no doubt, take most of the seats in the top 10. However, more and more Asian universities have entered the topic 100 ranking, especially those in China. According to THE, The University of Oxford tops the rankings for the fifth consecutive year, while mainland China’s Tsinghua University becomes the first Asian university to break into the top 20 under the current methodology (launched in 2011).

It is worth to note that this rankings may not be able to fully cover all the criteria and standards that assess an institute’s education nor can it be serve as the ‘best’ guide for student when they are making decisions. However, this ranking report is definitely the reference that can provide some solid information for both the students and educators to take into consideration. As we mentioned above, more Asian colleges have received good scores in recent years, indicating greater progressions and better academic performance that have been achieved in the higher education institutes at Asia.
